Canzone di Francesco schafft einem Moment der Meditation und Reflektion innerhalb Ihres Konzertes und eignet sich darüber hinaus auch ausgezeichnet als Aufwärmstück zur Übung von Intonation, Phrasierung und Klangbildung.

Das Werk entstand als Weihnachtsgeschenk für Valentin, den jüngsten Sohn des Komponisten. Valentin ist aber auch der Patron der Liebenden. Er soll der Überlieferung nach ein armer Priester gewesen sein, der ein blindes Mädchen geheilt hat. Hilfe und Trost Suchenden schenkte er Blumen aus seinem Garten. Das Fest des heiligen Valentinus wurde erstmals im 14. Jahrhundert gefeiert und gilt heute als ein romantischer Tag für Liebespaare. Dieses Werk ist im Stil eines Chorals komponiert und hat leichte Anklänge an eine Romanze!
