Titel: "Scherzi per musica di Messer Francesco Redi op. 35"
The Scherzi per musica di Messer Francesco Redi by Mario Castelnuovo-Tedesco represent a example of early twentieth-century Italian chamber song. Setting texts by Francesco Redi, the composer creates concise and finely balanced pieces, in which careful attention to textual clarity and rhythmic nuance is matched by an elegant and economical musical style. The cycle, comprising two sets (op. 35/1 and op. 35/2), reflects a synthesis of Tuscan literary tradition and a modern musical language. These edition presents the two sets in a single volume.
