The piquancy of this essentially very simple Suite consists in combining the Baroque gestus (more Telemann- than Bach-like) with harsh diatonic harmonies coloured occasionally by chromaticism ''enveloped'', now and then, in quasi-tonal progressions of more relict-sentimental than ironic character.
